Scotrail Not Working for Passengers
Mark Griffin MSP has expressed his deep disappointment at statistics that show that Scotrail is failing passengers.
New figures have been published which show that ‘on time arrivals’ are below 50 per cent at 25 stations where trains terminate across the network, including in Central Scotland.
Separate data also reveals that the Scottish Government’s cap on rush hour rail fares increased by over 23% between 2011 and 2015, while average weekly earnings rose by just 6.8%.
Mark said:
"It is deeply disappointing that one third of all rail routes in Scotland have services that are late more often than they are on time, including services to and from stations in Central Scotland.
"These new figures have been published in Scottish Labour's "Scotfail: How the SNP took trains off the tracks" dossier and show showed that ‘on time arrivals’ are below 50 per cent at 25 stations where trains terminate across the network.
"While passengers face cancellations, delays and overcrowding on a daily basis on our trains, the operator, Abellio, is earning over £1 million per month profit from the franchise.
"I support a publicly-owned rail service in Scotland. It is time to get a rail service that passengers deserve and the Scottish Government should do all within their power to deliver that."
