Fewer than half of trains arrive at Cumbernauld on time
New data from Scotrail has revealed that fewer than 50% of trains arrive at Cumbernauld Rail Station on time.
The figures covering the period 30th April 2017 to 27th May 2017 show that only 48.8% of trains arrived at Cumbernauld on time.
Mark Griffin MSP has called on Transport Minister Humza Yousaf to improve the service as a matter of urgency to avoid further problems going into the often difficult autumn and winter period. Mr Griffin has also reiterated his desire for Scotland’s railways to be brought back into public ownership.
Mark said:
“Scotrail encounters far too many problems, far too often, and it is rail passengers in our community who continue to pay the price. These latest figures show a patchwork service across Central Scotland, which is not acceptable, especially as fewer than half of trains arrive at Cumbernauld Rail Station on time.
“People in our area are fed up with delays, cancellations and overcrowded trains.
“I have consistently called on the Scottish Government to bring our railways back into public hands. With public satisfaction for Scotrail at a 14-year low, the Scottish Government must act to improve the service and put passengers ahead of profit.”
